About Us

The Notre Dame Club of Austin is the official home for Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, and Holy Cross alumni, friends, and family in the Central Texas area.

The Notre Dame Club of Austin’s mission is driven by these six guidelines:

  • Camaraderie
  • Catholic / Christian Spirituality
  • Communications
  • Community Service
  • Continuing Education
  • Current Students

With these in mind, the Notre Dame Club of Austin provides a variety of events and resources to ND/SMC/HCC alumni, parents, students, families, and friends. Throughout the year, we offer opportunities to connect with familiar faces within the local community to bring Notre Dame to Austin.

NDCoA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of friends, family, and alumni of the University of Notre Dame.

Don’t feel like getting involved, but still want to donate (a tax-deductible donation), you can do so through our Better Unite Always On Campaign. The Always On money goes to the club to be used for any purpose. Funds donated here do not count towards football lottery eligibility.

In addition to our Always On Campaign, you can also donate to the Scholarship Fund where all money donated goes directly towards our scholarship contribution. Funds donated here do count towards football lottery eligibility.

We’ve also set up an SSLP fund, where money does go directly towards our SSLP scholarship payment. Funds donated here do count towards football lottery eligibility.

President’s Welcome

Happy New Year, welcome and thank you for visiting the Notre Dame Club of Austin site. Our club is open for Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, and Holy Cross alumni, family, and friends living in Central Austin and for those just passing by! I am thrilled to be leading our club and serving as your President in the new decade!

Our club offers many opportunities to get involved throughout the year. We kick off the new year with our holiday party where we introduce our new leadership and plans for the year. From there, it’s welcoming our early admits and families to the Notre Dame community, followed by our accepted student dinner and student send off. We want our students to continue to feel connected to Austin while they’re in school, as well as the parents of our current students. This year, we’re kicking off a new affinity group for parents of current students inclusive of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, and Holy Cross. We want the families to have a connection like the students receive in South Bend during their time on campus. We have a lot of great ideas for this group, and if you’re interested in helping out, please reach out to me!

We stay in touch with our students while they are on campus by visiting them in April during our leadership conference, and providing care packages in the fall and spring during finals. Finally, we welcome our students and new graduates back each spring at an alumni owned business. Last year we had a great event at Jester King.

Another important initiative this year is growing our inclusion and diversity base within the Austin Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s/Holy Cross community. We plan to participate in more Pride activities as well as host diversity events providing educational and community opportunities throughout the year. If you are interested in joining our inclusion and diversity team, again please reach out to me.

We wouldn’t be a club without camaraderie! Every fall we have football game watches within our neighborhoods, and this year we’re looking to add another neighborhood to establish game watches either in the far north or far south suburbs. We currently have successful game watches downtown hosted by our young alumni, in Mueller, and Lakeway.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! We also have events through our ND Young Alumni, Senior Alumni, Women Connect, and Catholic/Christian spirituality. So, come and join us! My leadership team and I look forward to seeing you this year, and welcoming you to our family!

Go Irish! ☘️

2020 Leadership Team

Description of Open Positions

Email us if you’re interested in helping. If you’re interested in a position that is currently filled, that’s OK too – you can be a member of that team. In the ideal buddy system, everyone in a leadership position will have a Club member serving as backup to spread the workload and step in, in the event of schedule conflicts, travel, family commitments, etc. Our Two in the Box system presents a great opportunity for Club members to learn about the inner workings of the Club and ease into leadership roles if that is of interest. Buddies can also serve by simply supporting leaders with scheduling, phoning, emailing and other routine tasks.

ND Women Connect Lead

The ND Women Connect group leader assists the president in outreach to the ND/SMC/HCC Women in the Austin area. Set up meet and greets, retreats, book reads, recreational events for alums and coordinate with Club leadership to participate in broader Club events.

Diversity Affinity Group Lead

The Diversity Group Leader arranges educational and celebratory events to honor the inclusion and diversity of the club and our region. Past events have included Asian cooking class, Dia de la Muertos lunch and exhibit visit, Black and Junto activism in Austin, Pride happy hour, and others. If you are incredibly hip, and what SMC/Domer alum isn’t, this is the Club leadership position for you.

Saint Mary’s/Holy Cross Reps

While we are the ND Club of Austin, we’re looking for a few people from both Saint Mary’s and Holy Cross to help plan events, meet and greets, recreational events for alums, and coordinate with Club leadership to participate in broader Club events.  Leaders would also assist the president in outreach to the SMC/HCC alumni in the Austin area.

Spirituality Lead

The Spirituality group leader arranges masses, retreats, and meet and greets.  Also assists the president in outreach to the ND/SMC/HCC alumni in the Austin area.  Past events have included ND Celebration, Student Send-Off, and Club Day.

Continuing Ed/Professional Development Lead

The Continuing Education/Professional Development arranges the Hesburgh Lecture, networking events, and Irish Consulate meet and greet. The group leader assists the president in outreach to the ND/SMC/HCC alumni in the Austin area.

In addition to the positions identified above, the Club is seeking a number of almuni/family/friends to serve as co-chairs to assist those currently chairing groups within the Club such as Website, SSLP, Community Service, ND Women Connect, Camaraderie, and others. The Co-Chair position is a great way to ease into Club leadership while making a contribution and learning the ropes.

2020 Team Leadership Meetings

Monthly Club Leadership meetings are now scheduled for Monday evenings. Below is the schedule for the remainder of 2020. Meetings are held at Austin Public Library branches around the city.
