Hesburgh Lecture: 7pm, Thurs, March 10, St. Ed’s University

Join us for the Hesburgh Lecture at 7pm, Thursday, March 10, in the Jones Auditorium in the Ragsdale Center on the campus of St. Edward’s University (please click here for a campus map of St. Ed’s).

Our speaker is Dr. Gilberto Cardenas, Director of the Institute of Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Professor Gilberto is an Assistant Provost, holds the Julian Samora Chair in Latino Studies and is a Professor in the Sociology department. He is an alumnus of Notre Dame (Ph.D., M.A.) and is the author, co-author or editor of eight books.Prof. Cardenas will discuss contemporary issues pertaining to Mexican immigration, drawing on historical foundations of immigration policy, utilizing a visual presentation based on contemporary artwork addressing immigration issues. These issues will include works from the “Caras Vemos” exhibit inaugurated at the University’s Snite Museum in 2006 and currently on a national tour.

A wine & cheese reception will follow Dr. Cardenas’ lecture.
