Location : , ,
We invite you to join fellow ND alumni/ae, spouses, parents, and friends of ND for the inaugural Collaborative Shared Read of Black Domers: African-American Students at Notre Dame in Their Own Words, edited by Don Wycliff ’69 and David Krashna ’71, with a foreword by the late Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., ’39. Black Domers is a collection of 75 essays and profiles by Black alumni, starting with the first African-American to graduate from Notre Dame in 1947. (Please contact Nancy Carrales for information about ways to obtain a copy of the book.)
As our nation faces urgent calls for racial justice, many members of the Notre Dame family are seeking opportunities for meaningful conversations about equity. With that in mind, ND Alumni Association affinity groups (Diversity Council, ND Women Connect, Senior Alumni, YoungND, Asian Pacific Alumni of ND, Black Alumni of ND, Hispanic Alumni of ND, and Native American Alumni of ND) are sponsoring this collaborative effort. The organizers are hopeful that an honest dialogue can advance understanding and become a foundation for action.
Key Dates:
- 10/5/2020 – The virtual discussion of Black Domers (via Facebook) will begin next week on Monday, October, 5.
- 11/19/2020 – The NDCOA Zoom virtual discussion will be held at 7pm CT.
