Hesburgh Service Initiative: Serve the Homeless with Baking for Mobile Loaves and Fishes

Date/Time : Friday, 15 May 2015 - 5:00pm - 10:00pm | Add To Your Calendar
Location : Home of Nancy Carrales, 5016 West Park Drive, Austin, TX

The University of Notre Dame has established a 2015 Theme of “Community: Care for the Vulnerable” for the Hesburgh Service Initiative.

“Jesus said that when we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and the prisoner, open our hearts to the stranger, we are really loving and caring for Him, especially as He is found in the poor and abandoned.”
-Father Hesburgh, God, Country, Notre Dame

So, in honor of Father Ted Hesburgh, the ND Club of Austin will be working with the Homeless in our city through two service events the weekend of May 16th.
Bake Cookies or Brownies for the Homeless
Volunteers will make cookies or brownies at their own homes that will later be put out on the MLF trucks as desserts. Once baked, please bag them into individual hearty servings (approx. 3 average size cookies per bag). You would bake a couple dozen cookies at your own location, bag them (3 per bag) and then drop them off at Nancy’s house (5016 West Park Drive, Austin, TX 78731) by 10:00PM on Sunday, May 17. You may drop them at any time over the weekend, a cooler will be on the porch to collect your baked goods. Nancy has arranged to then deliver all desserts to the MLF commissary on Monday morning.

Please sign up through Eventbrite here. Questions may be sent to Nancy Carrales at [email protected]

If you can’t bake, then please consider volunteering to serve the homeless with the Micah 6 Pantry.
